A Blog On UPSC Civil Services Examination

A Blog On UPSC Civil Services Examination

Dear Reader

This is a blog on the Civil Services Examination held by the Union Public Service Commission being published right from the nerve centre for CSE preparation - New Delhi.

This blog will attempt to cover all the latest information about this exam (coaching, study material, text books etc.), current events of national and international importance and also the hundreds of rumours that circulate in the IAS aspirant community in New Delhi and the rest of the country.

I am an aspirant myself and my optionals are public administration and anthropology. So the focus will largely be on these two optionals,. However, any information on any optional whenever available will appear on this blog.

I appeared for the civil services interview 2007

As you are probably aware, this blog is very new as of now and will contain matter conforming to the agenda described above. However, as time passes and new ideas come by, the scope of the matter published here will become very wide.

Everybody - aspirants and readers of general interest - is welcome here! :-)

The Civil Services Examination is one of the most talked about competitive examinations in the country and is probably the toughest competitive examination in the world if we go by the mind boggling numbers (number of applications in the range of 3,00,000 to 4,00,000 for around 500 vacancies.)

There is a whole industry that thrives around this examination, a distinct aura surrounding those who are in someway involved with it, there are great success stories - some almost fairy tale like - of aspirants who achieved top ranks against all odds and then there are the stories of those who gave it all but could not succeed.

Some say that taking a decision to compete in this examination is much more than a mere decision - it is a resolution to enter and live a new life, a life of power and responsibility and a life with high ideals like service to the public especially the poor and the needy, honesty and integrity.

It is no surprise therefore that this examination is a matter of great interest for aspirants, general readers, parents and journalists alike. It will be this blog's endeavour to cater to this wide audience yet maintain a focus that will hopefully help the aspirants who read this blog to succeed in this examination.

This blog is ultimately meant for the reader - whether an aspirant or a parent or a jounralist. The emphasis will be to make the reader comfortable and feel informed about this examination. Therefore, all feedback - whether friendly or otherwise - from you is welcome! Please feel free to post any queries and I will be glad to answer them to the best of my knowledge.

Please Note: Being an aspirant myself, I cannot claim to be an expert on the subject matter of this blog. The matter written here will be solely from the point of view of an aspirant slugging it out in Delhi. Of course, that does not mean all that is written here
